MORE, MORE, PARAMORE!

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3. Time to try out the digital audio recorder at a live performance, with a loud crowd, wearing microphones and while dancing to the music. I was unable to see Meese on Halloween night, so next up was Paramore at the Fillmore Auditorium on Sunday night. A very energetic brand of music that is making it onto the airwaves of radio stations.

This is what Wikipedia says about the band:

Paramore is an American alternative rock band that formed in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004 consisting of Haley Williams (lead vocals/keyboards)Josh Farro (lead guitar/backing vocals), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar), Zac Farro (drums), and Taylor York (rhythm guitar). The group released their debut album All We Know Is Falling in 2005, second album, Riot! in 2007, which was certified platinum in the US and gold in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. Brand New Eyes, Paramore's third album, was released on September 29, 2009. Brand New Eyes is the band's best-selling album.

Another source describes them as such:

Paramore, the rapidly emerging pop-punk quintet from Tennessee, has been building a near-deafening “next big thing” buzz. Driven by riveting live shows and the undeniable charisma of their frontwoman, 18-year-old Hayley Williams, they have captivated an increasingly rabid following. Confronted by the double-edged sword of overwhelming early praise, Paramore has risen to the challenge and recorded an album that happily delivers on all the claims made on their behalf. With their new Fueled By Ramen collection, “RIOT!,” they announce that they have the talent, the passion, and the songs to take themselves to the next level.

I arrived somewhat late with the bulk of the crowd already inside staking out their place for the evening, with the floor before the stage already packed. I tried squeezing in up front but retreated after feeling totally claustrophobic with bodies jammed up all around. I found a place behind the sound booth in the center of the floor somewhat distant from the stage. Although I was looking forward to the music, the primary goal was to test the recording setup I have and get a sense of what problems I may need to overcome when the big day arrives in December.

Two warm up bands opened the show, The Swellers (Flint, Michigan) and Paper Route (American Indie rock band from Nashville, Tennessee ). I wandered around the theater taking in the sights within the crowd. Watch out, don't step in that puddle of puke!

An invigorating performance by Paramore, with Haley Williams belting out all their hits. Lots of chatting with the audience, making sure she let the Denver crowd know how appreciated they are.

Took the highway home that evening, passing several police cruisers either parked on the roadside or taking care of business with their lights flashing.

Sharks all around him
Flashing their bright red and blue
Don't pick up the scent

  4. I will need more time. I've remastered the recording and am removing an annoying clapping sound from a nearby person. Might re-post it in the next few days. It will be the best recording of 2009.
